Tech Note J200-26: Vibration of Cold-Formed Steel Joist Framed Floors

$5.00

Summary: Cold-formed steel (CFS) floors are often used in residential and multi-residential applications. As construction trends towards more open areas and optimization of materials, checking for vibration is becoming increasingly important. However, little guidance is available to help the CFS design engineer incorporate vibration considerations into their daily practice. This Technical Note has been developed to introduce the CFS design engineer to key vibration criteria and analysis methods and how they can be used to help ensure well performing floors.

Disclaimer: Designs cited herein are not intended to preclude the use of other materials, assemblies, structures or designs when these other designs demonstrate equivalent performance for the intended use. CFSEI documents are not intended to exclude the use and implementation of any other design or construction technique.
