Tech Note L002-23: Strap Braced Wall: Loose Strap Considerations
$5.00
Summary: Strap braced walls are a common means of providing lateral stability for cold-formed steel load-bearing structures. Discussed in this technical note are causes of loose straps, potential stability implications as well as potential means of remediation.

Tech Note G103-11a: Tabulated Local And Distortional Elastic Buckling Solutions For Standard Shapes
Summary: This note provides elastic buckling moments and forces for local and distortional buckling of typical standard sections such as those in the AISI S201 Standard for Cold-Formed Steel Framing—Product Data and the Steel Stud Manufacturers Association (SSMA) Product Technical Information Catalog. These tabulated values allow designers to quickly examine and evaluate the use of the direct strength method (DSM) for design. Note that basic information on DSM is discussed in CFSEI Technical Note G102.

Tech Note G105-22: Compression Member Reinforcement
Summary: To modify the capacity of a compression member, e.g. wall stud or truss web, adding a reinforcement may result in a non-prismatic member. This Tech Note provides guidance to evaluate the strength of a non-prismatic compression member.

Tech Note S200-20: Design of Cold-Formed Steel Systems for Raised Platforms, Stages and Theater Seating
Summary: It is common for cold-formed steel (CFS) to be used in the construction of raised platforms, stages, and theater seating. It is the intent of the Technical Note to provide an overview of considerations to address when designing such framing, along with some design examples.

Tech Note B004-20: Introduction to Cold-Formed Steel Framing Standards
Summary: The AISI Committee on Framing Standards was established in 1998 with a mission to eliminate regulatory barriers and increase the reliability and cost competitiveness of cold-formed steel framing in residential and light commercial building construction through improved design and installation standards. This Tech Note summarizes the efforts and work products of the Committee.

Tech Note G000-08: Cold-Formed Steel Design Software
Summary: This Tech Note gives basic information about computer programs available for the design of cold-formed steel framed buildings, structures, and structural elements. It is not necessarily a comprehensive list, but is based on the best available information to the CFSEI at the time of publication. It is not intended to endorse or exclude any particular software program.

Tech Note B006-20: Introduction to Evaluation Services and Explanation of Evaluation Reports
Summary: Evaluation reports act as a bridge between authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) and manufacturers in conveying specific information on building products and systems relative to compliance to codes and standards. When an evaluation report is made available and determined as supporting the product’s use in projects, approval of the code official should be solicited. After such approval is attained, the design and installation details given in the report need to be observed and the labeling of the actual product needs to match the description provided in the evaluation report.

Tech Note S300-21: Coordinating Cold-Formed with Metal Buildings
Summary: This Technical Note presents a discussion of both the design responsibilities and the need for coordination when integrating field-framed, i.e., stick-built, cold-formed steel (CFS) framing with a metal building system. Important potential coordination topics connection details and design concepts are highlighted.
